Personality: Itachi is calm, collected, and in control. He’s pretty indifferent about everything and couldn’t care less about other’s problems unless it affects him, either immediately or in the long run. He doesn’t waste time and will do what he thinks is necessary as he sees fit, so you probably shouldn’t turn your back, not that he’s any safer from the front. He responds to change the way he responds to most everything else, which is like this: :| so it's probably more fun to get reactions out of him than it should be.

Now that he's died, he will probably be quite a bit more relaxed, but he has to shake off the habits that he's ingrained into himself for years. It'll be a slow process, but he'll be a bit more like a 'normal' person, though his default face will always be :|. He will probably show his feelings a bit more, smile in a not creepy way [depending on if you think him smiling and not smirking is creepier still], and show more interest in the things around him. He will 'care' about things a bit more, but probably only things that effect Sasuke in some way or form as he's shown he is obscenely selfless in a completely selfish way when it comes to his brother; don't try to make sense of that sentence...

Powers/Abilities CANON: The main ability of Uchiha Itachi is his sharingan, which is a bloodline trait that allows him to see chakra [energy], copy movements, perceive an opponent’s attack, and respond accordingly. The speed of his hands while doing jutsu [hand signs] is extra-ordinary and for even a competent shinobi [ninja], it is hard to see them all. His mastery of genjutsu [mental illusions] is high and he can trap someone in an illusion by simply pointing his finger. The Mangekyo Sharingan gives him more high-level techniques including Tsukiyomi and Amaterasu. The Tsukiyomi primarily uses the left eye, which is more geared towards genjutsu, and allows Itachi to manipulate time and space [basically] and torture someone for what seems like days to the victim when only a few seconds have passed. Amaterasu uses the right eye and is geared towards ninjutsu. It is used to create a black flame that burns until the user mentally stops it. It can also burn through incredibly tough materials that should be impenetrable. The use of the Mangekyo puts an incredible strain on Itachi’s eyes and it fatigues him greatly, so it’s used rarely. His eyesight has also degraded because of this technique making him nearly blind as was show in his final battle with Sasuke.

As well as the two previously mentioned doujutsu, he has one more technique and two special 'objects': Susano'o, Totsuka no Tsurugi [Sakegari's Katana], and Yata no Kagami [Yata's mirror]. Sakegari has sealing powers. The person pierced by this weapon is said to go into a dream-like sleep for eternity while Yata's mirror is said to turn back any attack. Both seem to be used as last resorts and are legendary objects that are one of a kind and can be found no-where else. When Susano'o is summoned, Itachi's eyes turn white and the drain on his chakra is unknown, but if he was at 100%, he would be the most god-modded character ever be nearly invincible.

As Itachi would rather stand back, he often uses clones to do his close-range combat. He can detonate these clones at will using the ‘Bushin Daibakuha’ technique and the resulting explosion is lethal if you get caught in it. Being an Uchiha, who were known for their fire techniques, he can use the Katon! Goukakyu no Jutsu, a giant fireball, to catch an opponent off guard. There are probably countess techniques he's copied using the sharingan, but he never used any other than the ones mentioned above.

Powers/Abilities AU: Itachi’s abilities are cut by more than half by the flux gate. His basic sharingan capabilities work and he could leave it on most of the time if he wishes it, but all of his other senses would be muted, the strain on his eyes is even more pronounced, and he would be incredibly fatigued by the end of the day. If there is chakra to be sensed, he can see it and react accordingly while his sharingan is activated. He is unable to use genjutsu to any degree that makes it worth the effort. Walking on walls, ceilings, etc. is easily done, but not in excess. Mangekyou and Amaterasu are impossible for him, because of both chakra requirements and their destructive capabilities. That also cuts off Susano'o, Totsuka no Tsurugi, and Yata no Kagami. A side-effect of the gate taking away part of his power is his eyesight is now nearly perfect, but if he uses his sharingan too much it will begin to degrade again even without Mangekyou because the Gate is still regulating his abilities.

History: Itachi is the first son of Mikoto and Fugaku Uchiha, born shortly before the 3rd Great ninja war. When he was 4, he witness this war for himself, and it was that experience that molded his mind away from violence and killing. Even so, he was considered a genius and proved it by mastering his bloodline trait, the Sharingan, by age 8 and becoming a Chuunin [level of shinobi] by 10 years old. All of his shinobi skills were to be used for killing and by his father, the head of the Uchiha Clan. It's unknown how he really felt about his family and how his skills were used, but it can be assumed he did it out of duty for his clan.

When he joined Anbu, a prestigious position, his father [and the clan] tried to use him as a spy to get information on Konoha. Using this information, they would've launched a coup d’état as they felt that the Uchiha Clan was being alienated and subjugated by the elders and the Hokage. It's unknown when Itachi learned of the coup d'état that his father and clan were planning, but he became a double agent, giving his father false or very little information while giving the Sandaime, Danzo, and the two advisers Homura and Koharu information on the clan. He was more loyal to Konoha than his own clan, disliking the war-like path his clan was taking and decided to turn against them. Undoubtedly, the advisers and Danzo took advantage of Itachi's nature to their own ends when it was determined that clan was too dangerous and ordered Itachi to kill them all.

Once Itachi joined Anbu and became a double agent, he starts to act strangely. Then his best friend, Shunsui, 'commits suicide' and Itachi is suspected of killing him. After taking physical action against those who tried to threaten him, he was estranged from his father, even while living together. Sasuke sees the strange sharingan that Itachi briefly reveals after the encounter, but says nothing about it. During the time Itachi was going on missions [or pretending to] he realizes Madara is alive [somehow] and goes to find him. He gains both knowledge and an accomplice since Madara was looking for revenge against the clan for betraying him.

He waits until Sasuke is away before killing the clan [with Madara's help, most likely] and upon Sasuke's return, he completely rapes his poor little mind destroys Sasuke's innocence with images of the massacre that Itachi had carried out. He tells him to hate him, to chase him, and to lead an ugly life and to never stop running until he was strong enough to kill him.

After the clan's demise and before Itachi truly begins his life as a missing-nin, he begs the Sandaime to spare his little brother and to make sure Sasuke stays alive even after he goes on the run. The Sandaime grants him that wish and Itachi disappears, his whereabouts unknown until after the hokage's death. Itachi then appears in Konoha with his partner, Hoshigaki Kisame, to let Danzo and the advisers know that he is indeed still alive and that if anything happens to Sasuke, he will turn on them as well. Being that he is in the Akatsuki, his status as a missing-nin and S-Class criminal is even more dangerous. His 'mission' to capture the kyuubi [nine-tailed fox] brings him into contact with Naruto, and therefore Sasuke. He tortures him again, using the Tsukiyomi to make him re-live the Uchiha Massacre once more before making his escape as Jiraiya tries to capture him and Kisame.

He appears again as a clone [though Team 7 didn't know it at the time] to delay their chasing of Deidara to rescue Gaara. It is hinted at by Kakashi that there is something wrong with his eyesight. Nothing concrete is found out as the clone is destroyed and they move on.

Several weeks [or months] Itachi appears in front of Naruto, where he gives him some of his power [how much or what it is exactly is unknown in canon for now] before his final battle with Sasuke. He tells Sasuke of the Uchiha legend and about how the mangekyou was discovered. He tells his brother that he kept him alive so that he could take his eyes to prevent himself from going blind. [That face still haunts me...] Then they go into their final battle [tl;dr The Final Battle]. Itachi orchestrates the whole thing, draining all of Sasuke's chakra to draw out Orochimaru only so that he could kill him and allow Sasuke to gain the mangekyou. He gives Sasuke one final poke to the head, apologizing for it being the last time he can do it before he dies slamming his head into the wall on the way down, which probably would have killed him anyway at this point, go figure.

Being dead doesn't give me any kind of new perspective. Everything is the same as before. But I cannot go back, and Sasuke is... a Sasuke is here. As well as...

I will be as I always have. Nothing here has changed and no one will know different. *face blank, he walks up to Niflheim and opens the door to a second life*

Why do you play this character? I have a lot invested in him as a character. He's my second oldest muse and I've been the most if-y about him. Even with that 'WTF Are you even serious?!?!' turn of events with his history that made this a serious bitch to re-write, I think it makes playing him a little bit harder. I want to try and make the change in his personality a thought out process instead of just 'BAM. Hi, I'm kinda normal now. Talk to me.' Especially since Madara is a lying liar who lies and I want to see what part of that history was pulled out of his ass.
